@Ganry57 Utilize the Internet! I also work from home and I get a lot of word-of-mouth referrals because I'm tied into social networks.

Also ask your clients to write testimonials for you, and in an appropriate manner let them know that you would be happy to help anyone they know that are looking for your services.

Monitor your brand online to see if people are talking about you and get in on the convo...drop in and say thanks for the referral, shout it out over Twitter and Facebook, ask clients to endorse you on LinkedIn (only after you have worked for them).

Create online surveys using Google Docs and ask clients to complete it after you've worked for them so you know what areas you're excelling at and what areas could use improvement. Even consider sending clients to a thank you for your biz page after you've completed work and utlize a 'share with friends' option that allows them to recommend you to friends who use your type of services (you must carefully plan this one for it to be effective).

There are endless ways to foster WOM online without ever leaving your desk!

Absolutely! And, yes, that's where Social Media can certainly give some great assistance! Many people would rather do business with, and send referrals to, people they are familiar with and people they see who have respect in their market.

You make a great point here, repeat and referral business are the best customers any business could ask for. I personally believe that is the true premise of social media marketing, interacting with potential clients, getting to know them and making them your friend so they are more likely to want to business with you or send people to you who need your services.

Great tips, especially for anyone contemplating a first partnership. You hit on some of the critical points such as focusing on the strengths of each partner, outlining the work each will be responsible for accomplishing and how the rewards will be shared. I touch on these and the entire scope of successful business partnerships in my upcoming free teleclass, Successful Partnerships: How to Turn Your Business into a Fast-Track Growth Machine, http://bit.ly/14ujgt, Sept. 16th.
